My higher education started in 2015 at Longwood University of Farmville, Virginia. I started off studying Athletic Training, and after gaining some experience in that field of study, I learned that my place was in the classroom. This lead me to get my degree in History with a concentration in Secondary Education. In this program I gained a lot of hands on experience in the classroom and fell in love.

I am currently a 7th grade Civics and Economics Teacher at Halifax County Middle School. I love working with students and I want to be able to use educational technology as a way of facilitating learning in a new way. Which led me to the educational technology program at James Madison University, from which I will graduate from in the Summer of 2023.

I chose educational technology at JMU because of the increase in the use of technology in the classroom. Ever since the pandemic teachers and students have had to learn new ways and delivering and receiving instruction through the use of new technology. it is here and it is here to stay.

Academic Goals
My academic goals for this program is to implement the different strategies and technologies in my current workplace. I want to see firsthand how the use of technologies in the classroom can help students learn, even if to them it's not the traditional way of learning.
Career Goals
I love working with students in the classroom. My goal is to stay in the classroom for as long as I can. I want to be able to use educational technology to help my students learn
However, the educational technology program will open many professional doors for me in the future. Instructional designing in a profession I am interested in pursuing with this help of this program
